As our new SAP S/4HANA Enterprise Architect, you will define and govern the target architecture across complex SAP transformation programs. You will use your expertise in SAP S/4HANA, Enterprise Architecture, SAP BTP, and system integration to design scalable, secure, and maintainable solutions while working closely with business, IT, functional teams, and implementation partners.

Responsibilities

• Define, maintain and communicate the SAP S/4HANA target architecture in alignment with business strategy, ERP roadmap, enterprise architecture principles and global IT standards.
• Translate business capabilities, process requirements and transformation scope into scalable, secure and maintainable S/4HANA solution architectures across relevant functional and technical domains.
• Design and govern end-to-end integration concepts between SAP S/4HANA, SAP BTP, legacy systems, regional applications, data platforms and external partners, ensuring interoperability, performance and resilience.
• Lead S/4HANA architecture assessments, fit-gap discussions, solution design reviews and key design decisions, identifying risks, dependencies, technical debt and standardization opportunities.
• Create and maintain SAP architecture blueprints, roadmaps, decision documents, interface overviews, extension guidelines and solution design principles for programs and operational teams.
• Provide architectural guidance to SAP functional teams, technical teams, product teams, external implementation partners and local IT organizations during design, build, test, migration, deployment and hypercare phases.
• Ensure that security, compliance, data protection, authorization concepts, lifecycle management, scalability and operations requirements are considered in S/4HANA solution designs from the beginning.
• Evaluate SAP innovations, architecture options and transformation patterns and recommend pragmatic solutions that improve business value, reduce complexity and support the long-term S/4 roadmap.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 15+ years of relevant professional experience in SAP architecture, SAP solution design, enterprise applications, or large-scale ERP transformation programs, preferably within an international environment.
• Proven experience as an Enterprise IT Architect or System Architect in complex SAP S/4HANA transformation programs, including architecture governance, solution design, design decisions, and coordination across business and IT stakeholders.
• Strong understanding of Enterprise Architecture, SAP Solution Architecture, and ERP system design principles, including scalability, reliability, security, maintainability, lifecycle management, and fit-to-standard approaches.
• Deep experience with SAP S/4HANA landscapes, core ERP processes, integrations, master data, transactional data flows, and extension concepts.
• Experience with SAP BTP, SAP Fiori, APIs, middleware solutions, and application lifecycle management practices is an advantage.
• Experience designing integrations across SAP and heterogeneous application landscapes, including assessing impacts on business processes, data, authorization concepts, security, and operations.
• Experience with SAP-related cloud capabilities and satellite systems such as AEB or OpenText.
• Ability to translate business requirements into SAP architecture concepts, target designs, solution options, decision papers, and implementation guidance for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to balance long-term SAP architecture standards with practical transformation requirements.
• Strong communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills, including experience leading fit-gap workshops, design authority meetings, and architecture review discussions.
• Familiarity with architecture management tools such as LeanIX or Alfabet is an advantage.
• SAP S/4HANA, SAP BTP, Enterprise Architecture, Cloud, or Security certifications are preferred.
• Fluent English communication skills, both written and spoken. German or other additional languages are an advantage.
