As our new AI & Automation Engineer, you will play a key role in executing a strategic roadmap of AI and automation initiatives. You’ll work closely with department leaders across the organization to design and deliver transformative, high-impact solutions that elevate lending performance and drive operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Build and deploy AI-driven tools and workflows that improve underwriting, compliance, Encompass efficiency, and broker/customer experience.
• Develop the MCP Server to serve as a secure integration layer between Encompass, Pinecone, and other systems.
• Create public- and internal-facing AI applications leveraging APIs connected to the MCP server, ensuring data security and compliance.
• Participate in weekly sprint reviews, maintain code and documentation in GitHub, and track progress in Smartsheet.
• Collaborate closely with department heads to deliver innovative, high-impact AI products.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or a related field
• 4+ years of hands-on experience as a Machine Learning Engineer, AI Engineer, or similar role in an industry setting.
• Proven experience in AI/ML, automation, and full-stack development.
• Strong proficiency in Python, Docker, and GitHub version control.
• Hands-on experience with AI/NLP platforms such as OpenAI (ChatGPT Enterprise) and cohere, and familiarity with vector databases like Pinecone.
• Knowledge of Google Cloud Run, Firebase/Firestore, and API development best practices.
• Understanding of workflow automation within mortgage technology ecosystems, particularly Encompass (a plus).
• Experience building secure API layers and integrating with data management systems.
• Strong collaboration, communication, and documentation skills in a cross-functional, agile environment.

Nice to Have:

• Prior experience in financial services, mortgage technology, or compliance automation.
• Familiarity with WordPress-based front-end delivery.
• Ability to architect and manage MCP (Model Context Protocol) or similar multi-system integration frameworks.
• Effective mentorship skills and the ability to provide thoughtful, constructive feedback.
• A structured, analytical approach to problem-solving, with a focus on delivering practical and maintainable solutions. 
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with professional fluency in English.
